In these days we are finalising the 2024 Activity Report and a large space is dedicated to the project ‘Psychological Support and Psychotherapy for MSNAs’, which was set up in 2021 thanks to the collaboration with the University of Trieste and Duemilauno Agenzia Sociale and implemented also thanks to the precious contribution of the Pietro Pittini Foundation.
- Why is this project crucial?
The data collected highlighted a dramatic reality: many young people arrive from the Balkan Route bringing with them deep wounds, both physical and psychological. Often victims of violence in their countries of origin or during the journey, they need support to overcome Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
- How do we intervene?
We have formed a specialised team with psychotherapists, psychiatrists and linguistic-cultural mediators to offer personalised and confidential support to MSNAs. The service is aimed at host communities that sign an agreement and mainly involves young people aged between 16 and 19.
- The future of the project
The aim is to expand the team to respond to the growing demand, because we believe that taking care of these “invisible wounds” is essential to ensure real social and labour integration of these young people.
Our thanks go to the Pietro Pittini Foundation for having believed in this project from the start and giving us concrete support to get it off the ground.
