This morning in the Sala Piccola Fenice in via San Francesco d’Assisi in Trieste we presented ‘Spazio 11 – Sala di attesa Solidale’ (Space 11 – Solidarity Waiting Room), the project realised with Caritas Diocesana di Trieste and UNHCR Italy – UN Refugee Agency, with the precious contribution of Fondazione CRTrieste, to offer an indoor environment where migrants can rest and refresh themselves before resuming their journey.
The facility is located in via Udine 11, will be operational from Monday (from 7.00 p.m. to 7.30 a.m.) and can currently accommodate up to 70 people.
The dedicated spaces are those of Casa Giubileo and, if necessary, Casa Donk. Our male and female volunteers will be on hand to carry out health triage on admission and to provide night-time telephone assistance to the operators.
Care, collaboration and gratitude are the three words our President used in his speech and sum up Donk HM odv’s point of view.
We are happy to be a partner in this project, which enables us to give substance to our mission to provide free medical care to needy people and to transmit the values of the Right to Health, Peace and Equality.
The press conference presenting the project was held by Monsignor Enrico Trevisi, Father Giovanni La Manna, President Stefano Bardari and UNHCR-UN Refugee Agency representative Matteo Valentinuz
