Wednesday 11 October in an interview published in the newspaper Il Piccolo, Stefano Bardari, president of the Volunteer organization Donk Humanitarian Medicine, talks in depth about the daily work that his association does to help the fragile, the migrants and those who for various reasons don’t have access to medical care provided by the territorial emergency services.
The people who take advantage of the free medical assistance service aren’t only migrants or asylum seekers, but also carers and destitutes who are in the territory of Trieste. Furthermore, with the help of Donky, the mobile clinic bought with the financial aid of Fondazione CRTrieste and of Rotary Club Nord, the activity extends to Gradisca d’Isonzo, situated in the province of Gorizia, where the volunteers of our association go on Wednesday night.
Knowing this fact has obviously left a mark but at the same time it has allowed to bring to attention the issue of mental and psychological health, which touches each of us in a different manner.
Mental health is for sure becoming a topic of public interest more than ever, and we are working to provide a service dedicated to psychological support.
We thank the journalist Gianpaolo Sarti and Il Piccolo for the article.
