The HELP project – the outpatient clinic for all is the framework for the daily activities of the volunteer doctors and nurses who every day provide free health care to the most fragile people through eight fixed outpatient clinics, two mobile outpatient clinics and telephone availability.
This activity has seen rapid growth in recent years, also due to the increase in the number of people arriving in our territory from countries in difficulty.
This is also why our association has decided to implement awareness-raising in the area and the recruitment of new volunteers to support those already present, which consist of active or retired doctors and nurses as well as medical students.
The project ‘HELP – l’ambulatorio per tutti: i volontari degli ultimi’ (HELP – the outpatient clinic for everyone: volunteers of the last ones) saw from June 2023 to June 2024 the organization, in various municipalities of Friuli Venezia Giulia, of meetings dedicated in particular to young people, but not only, to inform them about the culture of volunteering and the activities of the association, also providing them with paper, digital and multimedia tools for in-depth study of the topics covered.
This activity has led to an increase in the number of volunteers by 31, bringing the total number to around 70 people who make their time available totally free of charge to provide health examinations to those who, for various reasons, have difficulty accessing the National Health Service.
Within this project, which was implemented thanks to the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (R.L. 23/2012 – Project interventions of relevance), it was also possible to strengthen the network with other actors in the area – bodies, institutions, other associations, … – and to share with many people the themes of the Right to Health and voluntary work.
